The first publication from The Oni's Lair and the first published chapbook of poetry by J.D. Johnson. Love, Lost, Torn detail's in poetry the author's struggle with depression during his youth and his efforts to deal with his melancholy through poetry.
The thirty-eight poems that comprise the chapbook is presented in a chronology that draws the reader from the author's darkest point and into his acceptance of his melancholy heart via such emotional experiences as lost love and remembrance of lost family members.
In addition, for as long as Love, Lost, Torn is published, 25% of the royalties will be donated to the charity "To Write Love On Her Arms", an organization that assists individuals dealing with depression and anxiety.
The author truly describes the sad desolation we feel over lost love. Jeremy Johnson captures the anguish we experience but often can't express over the loss of a friend, partner or lover. The poems often read like lyrics, with a cadence that speaks to the human condition. I hope the author will pursue a follow-on collection.
